Two male presumed Hudsonian Whitefaces Leucorrhinia hudsonica from Alaska; as of July 2007 the only records of this species for Alaska away from the SE panhandle are from the boroughs of Kodiak Island, Valdez-Cordova, and Southeast Fairbanks:-

This one is from a roadside pond along Highway Three, the Parks Highway, from Anchorage to Denali National Park, located just north of Willow, Matanuska-Susitna Borough, on July 15, 2007:




This one is from the pond behind the Alyeska Hotel at Girdwood, Anchorage Borough, on July 28 2007; to me it looks a bit odd due to the thick and non-pointed red dorsal marks to P7 on the abdomen:
