This male was photographed on the large HQ pond (far end of HQ Pond Trail,) Santa Ana NWR, Hidalgo County, Texas on Aug 08, 2004:



I found this male and mature female on June 10, 2005 at the Cattail pond north of the disused entrance booth at Santa Ana NWR in southern Texas:

A feeeding male on the Rio Grande near Bentsen SP/WBC, Hidalgo county, on May 6, 2009:


This male was one of four, each patrolling a tiny remnant puddle of rainwater on the concreted section of the Chachalaca Trail at Santa Ana NWR on the morning of May 29, 2009; this individual is unusual in that has a blue crescent on the upperside of S10 in addition to the typical blue spot on the underside of that segment:
