This young male Red-tipped Swampdamsel Leptobasis vacillans was at the entrance pond at Santa Ana NWR around noon on May 22, 2009 - John Abbott had just found the first one minutes beforehand and drew our attention to its presence among the many young L. melinogaster present at that spot. At least three young males were seen that afternoon, with a couple more on subsequent days (I saw one again on May 25). These constitute the first records of this taxon for the United States:
