This female Blue-spotted Comet Darner Anax concolor was found on the Resaca Vieja Trail, Bentsen State Park WBC, Hidaglo county, Texas on October 10, 2008. This is the sixth sighting for Hidalgo county and the U.S., and the third documented by photos/specimen; it was collected under permit as the second specimen (first female) for the U.S. :
note the blue spots on the dorsal thorax at the base of each wing:
note below the contorted tip of the abdomen - it did this each time a strong gust of wind caused its perch to shake:
