San Blas and Durango Highway, Mexico September 2005

From September 11 - 22, 2005, Sheridan and I visited the San Blas area in Nayarit and the Durango Highway from Copala to the Durango state border in Sinaloa, Mexico.


Sheridan found this Prothonotary Warbler feeding in the mangroves near the mouth of the Rio Amec, just north of Puerto Vallarta, on the afternoon of September 22, 2005. Since the river is the state boundary and we were on the south side, we were in Jalisco. At the time this was only the third record of this species from the west coast of Mexico, and the first in the Fall:
