ECUADOR 2006

Verde Cocha is a new location for birders on the temperate West Slope- but one that is well worth a visit and overnight stay. Located just below Yanacocha on Volcan Pichincha, there is great potential for many of the high-elevation specialties to be found there This Glossy-black Thrush was hanging out in the garden; I advised them on locations for some small fruit/scraps feeding tables, which they plan to add soon - I anticipate that over time, an interesting array of temperate species will come in to feed at these tables (anyone who's been to Rancho Naturalista in Costa Rica can attest to the potential of this type of feature!):
