While searching the scattered shrubs on Paramo Guasca, east of Bogota for Bronze-tailed Thornbill we happened upon this feeding male Glowing Puffleg Eriocnemis vestita demonstrating just how appropriate it's common name is:
A presumed female of this taxon in the woodland below the Paramo - but I am puzzled by the shiny blue-green feathers in the vent (all of the vent is supposed to be shiny deep purple) - ?:
