On my penultimate day in Barrow (October 01, 2006) I was fortunate enough to witness an impressive passage of Yellow-billed Loons. From about 9am until 10.15am I counted 212 YBLOs flying southwest along the coastline just out over the ocean. All but one were adults in breeding plumage - the one exception being a very pale and fresh juvenile.
