This presumed fledgling Western Tanager was at Frijole Ranch, Guadeloupe Mtns NP, west Texas in early July 2005; it has the potential to styme birders if they are unaware that this taxon has such a different-looking fledgling stage. FYI I think that fledgling Flame-colored Tanager might look very similar, and I remain puzzled by this individual having large white tips to the growing tail feathers (see third photo below)...? :
