This Mountain Plover Charadrius montanus was photographed at the Sod Farm by H140 and H57, 11 miles nw of Pearsall, Frio County, Texas on January 23, 2011. It was one of 74 birds seen at the site, but it caught my eye because it seemed to be a male in breeding plumage... I'd be very interested in any feedback discussing onset of breeding plumage in this species - thanks:
