This juvenile/first alternate Greater
White-fronted Goose (Anser albifrons) was photographed
at Village Creek Drying Beds, Fort Worth, Texas in March 1992
by Martin Reid. Note the long, orange-based bill, the long,
swan-like neck, the darkish cap that runs down the nape
onto the upper hindneck, and the long legs. Note also
the very dark flanks (for a juvenile), greater coverts
concolorous with other wing coverts and primaries, and with thin
pale trailing edge (could be due to wear), and fairly prominent
white tip to the tail:
