This first-cycle light-morph Harlan's Red-tailed Hawk Buteo [jamaicensis] harlani was photographed at the boat ramp at the Calliham unit of Choke Canyon State Park, McMullen county, Texas on January 22, 2012:-





The same day I photographed (through the car windshield...) a dark morph Harlan's on I37 just south of San Antonio:




For comparison to the light-morph first-cycle at the top here is a light-morph adult Harlan's on March 17, 2003 at Markum Ranch Road, western Tarrant county, Texas; note the pure white throat:
