This female Green Kingfisher Chloroceryle americana was on the Frio River at the Halff Brothers Ranch low water crossing on February 06, 2005; it is the most confiding one I've ever come across, tolerating a group of admiring birders at less than 20 feet!; note the mud on its bill-tip - she must be excavating a nest burrow in the riverbank nearby:
