This First-Basic Ring-billed Gull Larus
delawarensis was photographed in Fort Worth in
early December, 1998. It first caught my eye due to the oddly-colored
legs; then cognitive dissonance crept in, and I noticed a rather
rounded head, small bill, very white breast (for early December),
and a somewhat nominate-canus-like tail (plus unmarked white
uppertail coverts) - but that's where the analogy ends, as the
median and lesser wing coverts are typical for RBGU, and the
outer web of the outermost retrix has too much black in it for
nominate COGU:
