For many years a distinctive Lesser Black-backed Gull (L. f. graellsii/intergrade) returned each winter to a 400-yard stretch of Mustang Island, Texas, just south of Port Aransas. During most of this period Lesser Black-backed Gull was rare in Texas, this individual being only the 13th state record when first found. Thanks to Greg Lasley's persistence over the years (most of these photos are his) I am able to present to you:-
