This adult-basic Herring Gull Larus a.
smithsonianus was photographed by Martin Reid at Victoria
Landfill, Texas on February 8, 2000. It was one of two (possibly
three) adult HEGUs present that showed strongly grayish (no hint
of yellow) legs and feet -in fact had this individual's legs shown
a tinge of pale olive as well, they would have been extremely
similar to the typical legs of adult Kelp Gull (L. dominicus):
