This presumed 1st-Basic smithsonianus Herring Gull was photographed at Corpus
Christi Landfill on Feb 17, 1999 by Martin Reid. Late winter/early
spring birds can often look like this, but mid-February is a bit
early for such a pale-looking individual - especially the tail;
so, is there anything visible that clinches/rules out thayeri?
