Update March 2010: new images by others added at the bottom of the page. FEEDBACK from six experienced Euro-gullers: 4 more-or-less in the "YLGU of some type but not michahellis" camp, but 2 feel it's a Larus argentatus - European Herring Gull! No takers for LBBG of any kind.
This first-cycle YLGU/argentatus-type(?) gull was at Daytona Beach Shores, FL on Monday Jan 25, 2010:
