This first-cycle gull was photographed on January 07, 2007 in the Coastal Plain near Houston and Galveston, Texas; it is a LBBG-type, but unusual in that the greater secondary coverts are virtually unmarked, the bill is rather stout, and the tail seems to have much more white than is typical of LBBG (suggesting a narrow black subterminal band). It was large for LBBG but slightly smaller than an average American Herring Gull:
