This first-cycle gull was photographed at at a Landfill in east Houston, Texas, on February 01, 2006: it looks a great deal like some of the Slaty-backed Gulls on this web page and on this web page (keep in mind that the sandy, windy Texas coast is harder on feathers than the rocky Japanese shoreline/harbors):
The legs were "bubblegum pink" - much more bright than any nearby Herring Gull:
