This first-basic Glaucous Gull Larus hyperboreus was photographed at Chooshi, Chiba, Japan, March 5, 1999 by Ted Lee Eubanks. This is a rather dainty-looking individual, and is the amount of dusky subterminal marking on the primary tips too great for a pure Glaucous Gull? - if so, could this be a hybrid with Glaucous-winged Gull; note that the area of the bill just behind the black tip shows some signs of darkening; comments?:
