This 2nd-Basic Glaucous Gull Larus hyperboreus
was photographed by Greg Lasley at Boca Chica, Texas on January
17, 1980. The delicate head and bill structure of this individual
invites comparison to nominate Iceland gull (L. g. glaucoides)
- but the crisp delineation of the dark bill-tip and short wings
rule this out; could this be a bird of the race L. h. barrovianus?:
