These Pallas'/Great Black-headed Gulls (Ichthyaetus ichthyaetus) were photographed in Bahrain, in early March, 1999:

A 2CY with retained brown feathers in the upper mantle; this seems to be a common trait even into early March:


This seems to be a "retarded" 3CY bird (note the primary mirrors and adult-like tertials) - some advanced 2CYs can look rather similar:



Adults; most were in full alternate plumage:
