This first-basic California Gull (Larus
californicus) was photographed by Martin Reid in
Fort Worth in early December, 2000; this individual was striking
in that the undertail and uppertail coverts were very sparsely
marked and the rump/lower back was unmarked white - the effect
being to create an almost Black-tailed Gull-like look to
the flying bird:
