This Second-Basic California Gull Larus
californicus was photographed in Fort Worth November
21, 1998. As is the norm for larger gulls at this site (Village
Creek Wastewater Treatment Plant stirring tanks), it was not
to his liking and he flew off moments after this picture was
taken. The harsh light creates a misleading impression of the
bare parts - in life the bill base and legs were pale greenish-gray: |
