An adult Eastern Caspian Gull (Larus
cachinnans cachinnans), photographed by Martin Reid
in Bahrain, early March 1999. Small mirrors on P10 and P9 (with
large black subterminal bands), plus black bleeding up the outer
edge of P5 point to barabensis, yet the gray tongue on
the inner web of P8 appears to be extensive, and the black outer
edge of P7 looks very thin and short; also note the whitish crescents
basal to the black subterminal bands on P7,P6, P5 - all features
of cachinnans:
