An unusual adult Western Caspian Gull (Larus cachinnans ponticus), photographed by Martin Reid in Bahrain, early March 1999. The mantle tone and brightness of the bill and legs point to barabensis, yet the long, unbroken white tip to P10 seems to establish it as a ponticus (as does the bill shape):
