Adult Eastern Caspian Gull (Larus cachinnans
cachinnans), photographed by Martin Reid in Bahrain,
early March 1999. Many barabensis look similar to this
bird, but I feel that the head shape, dull bill and legs, and
very large mirror on P10 point to this being nominate cachinnans.
Note the rounder head, shorter bill, and darker mantle compared
to ponticus:
