Adult Western Caspian Gull (Larus cachinnans ponticus), photographed by Martin Reid in Bahrain, early March 1999. This bird probably near the dark extreme for ponticus; note the small black subterminal band on P10, slim, gray inner-web tongue in P9 (plus rather small mirror), yet P4 has only a tiny black mark; mantle color (compared to the Black-headed Gull fling top-right) looks towards the pale end for Caspian Gull: |
