Adult Western Caspian Gull (Larus cachinnans ponticus), photographed by Martin Reid in Bahrain, early March 1999. This bird is nearer the pale extreme for ponticus; note the whitemirror/tip to P10, extensive pale inner-web tongue in P9 and P8 (but these tongues are gray, not whitish as in the palest ponticus), narrow black subterminal band on P5, and lack of black on P4:
