This adult Caspian Gull (Larus cachinnans ) was photographed by Ronald Klein in Baltic Germany, November 1995: Ronald comments: "Note the dark eyes and the streaked neck. Adult Steppe-Gulls often show a bill-band like armenicus, especially in winter. More than two-thirds of cachinnans in winter have dark eyes, often like a Mew Gull. If the iris is paler, it is more a bernstein-colour, but darker than argentatus."
