This Western Caspian Gull (Larus cachinnans
ponticus) was photographed by Ronald Klein in Baltic
Germany, October 1995. It was ringed on the Black Sea (Ukraine).
Ronald comments: "This is a typical cachinnans (moulting)
from juvenile into first winter. Some individuals are moulting
their coverts very early. Note the "jizz": it seems
like a large Larus genei!" The second image of the
same photograph provides a comparison with a First-Winter L.
