This Hesperitis/Common Groundstreak Ziegleria hesperitis was spotted simultaneously by Mike Rickard and Martin Reid at the National Butterfly Center, Mission, Hidalgo county, at c. 4pm on Texas on February 09, 2017. We did not recognize it, and took many photos. That evening we did some research and concluded that it was Z. hesperitis - a first record for the United States. We searched in vain for it most of the next day, and Mike also looked for it the day after that, with no success:
