This Black/Darkened Crescent Anthanassa ptolyca was flying at Frontera Audubon Thicket, Weslaco, Hidalgo county, Texas on March 16, 2013. This is the third U.S. record, and was found a few days earlier by Mike Rickard, who also found the previous record in 1973... Note the fresh condition, suggesting a fairly local origin:-
