This is probably Northwestern Fritillary Speyeria hesperis electa; it was at c. 7,700 feet along the roadside of NM126 just north of Fenton Lake State Park, northeast of Jemez Falls, Sandoval county, New Mexico on July 04 , 2008. The eyes are gray:
