This grass skipper was photographed in my yard (western Tarrant
County - I have two small meadows full of native plants including
Little and Big Bluestem) on April 15, 2003; I've been advised
that it is certainly a Hesperia and that it is almost certainly
a faded example of the "western" Cobweb
Skipper, Hesperia metea licinus - check
out this link to the only images of this form that I can find
on the Internet. The only other possibility is that of the even
more-scarce western form of Dotted Skipper, Hesperia attalus
