This grass skipper was photographed in my yard (western Tarrant County - I have two small meadows full of native plants including Little and Big Bluestem) on April 15, 2003; I've been advised that it is certainly a Hesperia and that it is almost certainly a faded example of the "western" Cobweb Skipper, Hesperia metea licinus - check out this link to the only images of this form that I can find on the Internet. The only other possibility is that of the even more-scarce western form of Dotted Skipper, Hesperia attalus attalus see example here):
