These multiple Bar-winged Skimmers Libellula axilena were some of the 10+ seen at a small peat-stained pond (first discovered by Greg Lasley) in the forest a few miles southwest of the dam at Sam Rayburn Reservoir, Jasper county, Texas on June 27, 2008:

















Each time a female arrived at the water up to four males fought to grab her, she and the winner then disappeared for a bit, and re-appeared with her egg-laying and him guarding her very closely:
