COLOMBIA August 2009

This Wood-Wren Henicorhina sp. was at c. 1,900 meters on the west-slope side of the San Jose del Palmar road near El Cairo. It responded to speculative playback of Munchique W-W (H. negreti) with graty churring for a while, then sang a few times - all of us agreed that the song was very like (but not exactly the same as) the pre-recorded clip of Munchique, and thus distinct from Grey-breasted W-W (H. leucophrys - the nominate form supposedly occurs here). However the plumage details visible in my poor photos do not match the description of Munchique, in that the throat is barely streaked, the belly appears to be unstreaked, and there is no sign of white tips to the tail feathers... :
