These Greater White-fronted Geese were photographed at Cottonwood Meadows near Rosenberg, Fort Bend county, Texas in December 2008:

Note how rangy, long-necked and long-legged most of these birds are; I wonder if most of these birds are the taiga-breeding gambeli subspecies?:


Note the difference in bill color, head/neck color, neck and leg length between these two adult birds; I suspect that the bird on the left is the widespread frontalis subspecies and the bird on the right is the mysterious gambeli race:
